Verdun

I have an interest in the French during the great war and especially Verdun. I collect medals etc and have recently acquired a vernier version of the Verdun medal but instead of the usual red ribbon, this has a green and white vertical stripes (equal) ribbon. I don't think this is a case of wrong ribbon as I have also seen this on the unofficial Somme medal. Please can anyone point me in the right direction to identify this one? I am of the opinion it may be something to do with a comrades association or maybe the colours of a department of France but my search of the internet has proved fruitless. Any help would be much appreciated or maybe a direction to aim my query at. thanks in advance
