Hello all.I need your help in identifying this "patch" on an 1st WW helmet. As you can see,by clicking on the link, the colours are,to me maroon and gold and is 1in. X 1in.

To me it looks like the regimental colours to the Middlesex Regt. BUT I could be very wrong here.

So, if someone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

All informations and comments will be appreciated.

Cheers

Jo

I think you are probably right about the colours. See this helmet, which belonged to an officer in the 7th Middx (killed on the Somme in September 1916):

Thank you Wainfleet for your speedy answer. One more thing, does your helmet has a patch on both side of the helmet ? Mine has the colours on both side.

Hi Jo

It's packed in a box under a load of other boxes at present so I can't be certain, but I am fairly sure it is on both sides.

Regards,

W.
