redescort Posted 22 August , 2011 Share Posted 22 August , 2011 Terry One of the men on the Memorials I am researching unfortunately has quite a common name John Walker. I have checked through nearly 400 Walker's with John or forenames one of which is John or with just the initial J on the CWGC site SDGW De-Ruvigny and MIC's and I believe these could be Non-Commemorations. 7521, Walker, John, Private, 2nd Kings Royal Rifle Corps, K.I.A. 14-17/Sep/1914 In De Ruvigny could not find in CWGC or SDGW have MIC marked K in a. 21902, Walker, John, Private, 5th Bedfordshire Regiment, K.I.A. 8/Apr/1918 Palestine, Born Shoreditch Middlesex, Enlisted Whitehall Middlesex, In SDGW could not find in CWGC have MIC no extra information on it. 35702, Walker, John, Private, Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment), Formerly Kings Own Scottish borderers Private 16225, Died 20/Aug/1916, Home, Born Edinburgh, Enlisted Leith Midlothian, Cannot find MIC, In SDGW could not find in CWGC. 29519, Walker, John, Private, 13th King's (Liverpool Regiment), Died of Wounds, 21/Jul/1916, France & Flanders, Born Liverpool, Enlisted Liverpool, Cannot find MIC, In SDGW could not find in CWGC. Terry Denham Posted 22 August , 2011 Share Posted 22 August , 2011 21902 - He is already in CWGC but as WAKER. This has apparently been confirmed by the NoK but it is being investigated. 29519 - We have looked at this one and it appears his name was WHITTAKER and is in CWGC. Error in SDGW. 7521 - Possibly 2829 in CWGC 35702 - Real name was WALLACE and is in CWGC
redescort Posted 23 August , 2011 Author Share Posted 23 August , 2011 Many thanks Terry That's ruled out three names in my quest for the John Walker that I'm looking for, shame about Geoff's WWI Search Engine I may have found these had it still been running. PaulC78 Posted 21 December , 2019 Share Posted 21 December , 2019 I can only find De Ruvigny, MIC and medal rolls for John Walker 7521. Despite the similarities his qualifying date is 28-6-14 which is distinct from Joe Walker 2829 who has a different set of records and a qualifying date of 13-8-14.
