Hi

Trying to find this location please

"The 3rd Division had just moved North from the Somme to the south end of the Vimy Ridge. 3rd Division formed the right of the Canadian Corps, and the 8th Brigade the right of the Division. At this time they held the Ecurie section, near the Village of that name near Roclincourt just north Of Arras. Early on 17th December

the 4th C.M.Rs relieved the 2nd C.M.Rs in trench R1".

I have found an R1 location at St Eloi but not at Roclincourt, any help?

Best regards

Bob

I am afraid I do not have an adequate map at hand to illustrate this, but the relevant location report with the 3rd Division General Staff Diary notes the R1 trenches at A.28.b.7.8 and the R2 trenches at A.21.b.9.9 1/2 . These were not in the front line, but in Brigade reserve at this time, so far as I know.

I hope someone has a decent map of this and can do a better job than can I.
