michaeldr Posted 12 July , 2004 Share Posted 12 July , 2004 Remembering today the officers and men of The ‘Border’ Battalion, the 1/4th The King’s Own Scottish Borderers, who on the 12th July 1915 at Gallipoli, took part in what was ever after known to the survivors as ‘The Charge.’ The battalion lost over 300 men died and 200 wounded this day and during the rest of the war the battalion was never again to attain full strength. Alas, all that I can do is to raise a glass at 7.00 pm this evening. However, anyone within driving distance of Hawick may like to attend the wreath laying at that time at the ‘Horse’ monument in the High Street, and following that, the second wreath laying at the War Memorial in Wilton Lodge Park.
