Hello,

This is my first posting on this Forum, so I hope that I will get the info I seek.

The ship "Duches of Cornwall" was sunk off France on the 11th April 1917.

I am seeking info on the details of this event and if possible a photo of the ship.

Leads to other sites may also be of usein this quest.

Thank you for reading this mail.

Hope to get replies soon.

Alex

The Duchess of Cornwall, 1,706 tons, was built for the Duchess of Cornwall Steamship Company in 1889, by W Gray & Co.

She was topedoed by the German submarine UC 26 5 miles North of Cape Barfleuer on 11 April 1917. 23 of her crew, including her captain, were killed.

Thank you Terry for your reply.

Have you any details of crew names or names of those aboard her that survived ?

Hopeful,

Alex

I havn't Alex, but I think she was a Cardiff registered ship. Perhaps there might be some mileage pursuing things in that area
