Bar Beneath O/S Chevrons

PhilB

Recommended Posts

In the 1st NF Museum at Alnwick Castle is a uniform jacket of a private in a NF Pioneer Bn. Below his O/S chevrons on the right sleeve is a horizontal bar of silvery grey material about 60mm X 10mm. What does it indicate?

No response on this. I`m tempted to think it`s an unofficial addition but, its being in a display case, I thought I`d better check.

No. He had a wound stripe (vertical of course) on the correct (left) arm. The bar in question was horizontal. I`d have photographed it but I don`t think cameras were allowed. :(
