Rosemary Clarke Posted 10 July , 2004 Share Posted 10 July , 2004 I believe the centre to be opening late summer this year but can anybody tell me the actual date, please? Many thanks
ypres Posted 11 July , 2004 Share Posted 11 July , 2004 We were told early September (Hopefully) and that was on Tuesday last week while we were in there. I'm sure Paul Reed will tell us as soon as he knows!!!! (won't you Paul?). Mandy.

An update - another reliable source tells me it is scheduled for 27 September. Rosemary
Guest Kieron Hoyle Posted 11 July , 2004 Share Posted 11 July , 2004 Paul's back in Ypres this weekend and my exams are over . . . so for once I have use of the computer!!! According to the Thiepval newsletter (Paul picked up on the 2nd July) the visitors centre will be officially opened on Monday 27th September 2004, at 13:00h. Paul Reed Posted 12 July , 2004 Share Posted 12 July , 2004 Thanks for replying for me, Kieron. The centre does open then and it seems to attend you must have an invitation, as there is limited space. The centre is already open to visit (bookshop, toilets etc) but not fully open as such. paul guthrie Posted 12 July , 2004 Share Posted 12 July , 2004 I am proud to say US Branch WFA contributed $1000 to this.
Terry Denham Posted 19 July , 2004 Share Posted 19 July , 2004 I can confirm that the Centre is already open as the staff came running out yesterday to invite in the coach load of 63 kids I was escorting inside to have a look. There are still no displays other than a flat screen TV film running continuously but the bookshop is fully operational and the toilets do work! There is little room in the centre and I can see it getting crowded at times but it is quite an attractive building and is discretely positioned.
