Hi,

Can anyone please tell me which units wore the brass shoulder title "LIVERPOOL" and when it was worn?.

Also, does anyone know when the 8th (Irish) King's shoulder title changed from "8/IRISH/LIVERPOOL" to "8/IRISH/KINGS"

Many thanks,

Simon

It might be a St Johns Ambulance shoulder title.

The curved 'Liverpool' S/T was worn upto 1902 by the regular battalions. Not sure that '8/Irish/Liverpool ever existed but 'T/8/Irish/King's' was worn post 1908 prior to this the battalion wore '5/Irish/V/King's'

Jon is right according to the Kingsman magazine of 1930 the title "Liverpool" was worn in the South African war at the same time as the title "Lpool R" was worn.

The 8th Irish Battalion wore the title T/8/Irish/Kings although I do have an example of T/8/Irish/ Liverpool which is probably a one off,it is certainly the only example I have ever seen.
