W.J.Caughey Posted 22 June , 2011 Share Posted 22 June , 2011 Hi, another newspaper notice, this soldier dead while training at Ballykinlar camp, at Downpatrick Hospital Co Down N.Ireland , with no medal card service number or service papers that i can find, would he still be classed as a serving soldier and if it says soldier on his DC would this be proof enough for him to be recognize for poss commemoration. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Walter
Terry Denham Posted 22 June , 2011 Share Posted 22 June , 2011 Walter He would certainly qualify but the word 'soldier' is not sufficient. He could not be checked by CWGC/MoD or even commemorated without a rank or regiment. You can get away without a service number although such cases are rare but the other two items are essentials.
