archerobx Posted 21 June , 2011 Share Posted 21 June , 2011 Was given a Karabiner 88 by my dad and decided to do some research. on the front sight it has unit markings: B.6.Ch.1.13 : Does that mean 13th weapon. 1st troop. 6th Chevaulegers Regiment? also Looks like three small letters with a crown over each, does anyone know what that means? thank you Ryan
shippingsteel Posted 21 June , 2011 Share Posted 21 June , 2011 Those markings belong to the Kgl. Bayern. 6. Chevaulegers-Regt. "Prinz Albrecht von Preußen" (Bayreuth) III Bayerisches Armee Korps As you suspected the stamps are meant to represent the Bayern. 6. Chevaulegers-Regt., 1. Eskadron, Waffe Nr.13 The small letters with the crown over are inspection marks commonly known as 'frakturs'. Cheers, S>S
