Scratch Posted 13 June , 2011 Share Posted 13 June , 2011 I am researching a number of early 20th century British Pathe news clips. I am having difficulty determining the country to which the officer in this clip belongs. Although the narrative claims he is British, the uniform is not to the best of my knowledge Royal Navy. http://www.britishpa...rd.php?id=78831 Is anyone able to help, please? I'm also wondering whether the decoration might be the Croix de Guerre? Thanks Tony

Possibly French or Belgian I think but that is just going from the general appearance and style of the medal. Cuff rings were often adopted by air forces and the coloration and style of the tunic makes plain it is not Navy.
David B Posted 13 June , 2011 Share Posted 13 June , 2011 Definately not Brit. navy. Absence of loop on top ring indicates that. I was under the impression that early airforce uniforms had a similar cuff to the army, so my bet would be French.
