chrisharley9 Posted 9 June , 2011 Share Posted 9 June , 2011 Kevin I cannot see on the pension record where it says that he died of TB although I think it highly likely that he did. A death certificate will be needed to prove beyond doubt that he did die of TB Chris
headgardener Posted 10 June , 2011 Share Posted 10 June , 2011 The way I read that extract from his service papers, it implies that his condition was pre-existing (i.e. he may have already been suffering from TB, and military service aggravated his condition). Would that have any bearing on his recognition by CWGC? It's not as crazy as it sounds; I have service papers for a man who caught TB in about 1906, subsequently joined the TF in '08, and was pensioned out in 1915. So he served for a total of 7 years with the condition apparently in remission. It was the reason for his ultimate discharge.
chrisharley9 Posted 10 June , 2011 Share Posted 10 June , 2011 Condition was pre existing but as I read it they changed the verdict to aggravated by military service so if his death was caused by TB then he should be recognised by CWGC; however we do need the DC to prove this Cheers Chris
