British Artillery Identification Request

Recommended Posts

I have had this picture for a while and been trying to identify the exact type of gun that the troops are standing in front of.

I have tried comparing it with examples in some books I have but have no luck so far.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Simon

Need an expert on heavy British Artillery

In for a penny! Railway mounted as part of carriage seems to appear behind the sgt on the left and over the heads on the right. Barrel too short for a gun? Suggest 12" how.

British 12" MkV howitzer on traversing mount railway carriage.

Probably 1918, as the MkVs only entered service in late 1917.

so that also probably links this to not many more than about 20 RGA Siege Btys equipped with these... usually two to a battery.. is that right?
