Remembered Today:

Who was the last surviving Old Contemptible Regular Officer?

I imagine someone will know. I seem to remember seeing an obituary in the earlier 1980s of a Cavalry officer who was described at the time as perhaps one of the last surviving pre-1914 regular officers - I know of another (an RFA subaltern commissioned in 1911) who survived until 1987, aged 94, or so... but would suspect that there were not that many left even then..

I'd have thought there would perhaps be a regular or two who lasted a bit longer than '87. Sir Brian Horrocks (commissioned 1914) lived till 1985, aged 89.
