stephen p nunn Posted 30 April , 2011 Share Posted 30 April , 2011 Having sorted out more or less everything else for my SMLE, I am trying to get hold of a breach cover. Are originals difficult to come by? Anyone know about their availability - original or copy? Thanks all. SPN Maldon
wainfleet Posted 30 April , 2011 Share Posted 30 April , 2011 Hi M WW1 examples are not easy to come by, well not originals anyway! There are plenty of later ones with spurious markings about. Here's an example: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WW1-1914-S-M-L-E-COVER-/330558613111?pt=UK_Collectables_Militaria_LE&hash=item4cf6d42677 No possible doubt about this one as they were not introduced until 1916. The marking isn't very well shown, but he has had a few others, so you may want to look at his past auctions in case the pictures are better. The WW2 ones are very similar and cheap enough when not falsely stamped. One would do if you wanted a gap filler till you find an earlier one. Regards, W.
