Anyone know more about this guy? All help appreciated. Am hoping to get pic.

Private T. Elliott

Mr. John Elliott, Ahoghill, has received information that his son, Pte. T. Elliott, Connaught Rangers, was killed in

action on Easter Monday. Private Elliott was a popular young man and was well known in sporting and boxing

circles.

He was the welter-weight champion of Scotland, had 21 fights in Glasgow, winning them all, and won two

competitions in France in the ‘best out of five regiments’.

The death of a Pte Thomas Elliot was reported in "Sporting Life" 18/4/18. He was Irish born, but lived in Dumbarton Scotland, where he did his boxing. He was described as a Scots champion, but fought as a lightweight. He is also mentioned in the "Death Roll of Sport." There was no reference in either source to him belonging to the Connaught Rangers-9th Bn Royal Irish Fusiliers is suggested as his unit. Unfortunately I do not have a photograph. Hope this is of some assistance.
