Tyrim Posted 12 April , 2011 Share Posted 12 April , 2011 There is an article in today's Daily Mail describing how a Bible found by a British soldier in France in 1917 and kept for the rest of his life was finally returned to the original New Zealand owner's family. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1376116/Lucky-bible-soldier-Western-Front-reunited-owners-family-94-years-on.html

ulsterlad2 Posted 12 April , 2011 Share Posted 12 April , 2011 Nice story Bob. Thanks for the link. There's a little 36th Division connection in there too. Private Hodgson served with the 9th R.I.Fusiliers at Messines. Though I'm not too sure about the report that he initially served in the 24th London Bn of the Royal West Surrey Regiment. Tyrim Posted 13 April , 2011 Author Share Posted 13 April , 2011 Hi Roger and Robert, It's nice to see closure on a story like this. It's too late to bring comfort to the people who were directly involved but it's a nice wrap up in any event. Bob
