I have nearly finished a book called " Clay " By Gladys Mary Coles. The main character is William Manderson who leaves Liverpool for the western front. I admit it's fiction I've read lot'sof books about the War etc both fact and fiction.,but Coles descriptions of what men like William must have endured, the thoughts that may have gone through their minds are probably the most graphic and evocative i've read in a book of fiction so far.

This book also takes in the aftermath of War moving from Liverpool, France. Wirral and North Wales. But it makes a nice change to read a book of fiction with a large chunk so grapically focused on the War.

If anyone is interested it was published last year by Flambard Press. £8.99 I stumbled across my copy in the Library.
