Black Watch Posted 1 April , 2011 Share Posted 1 April , 2011 This man appears on the Carnoustie War memorial. His entry on CWGC states Leading Seaman David Henderson 147753 (PO) HMS Victory. What would the PO stand for? I assume he didn't actually serve on the "Victory" but more likely onshore in Portsmouth. Any help appreciated. ARABIS Posted 1 April , 2011 Share Posted 1 April , 2011 Neil, In this case the (PO) would be for Portsmouth, & Victory was also the Naval Barracks at Portsmouth. He was born 31st January 1873 at Tealing, Kirkton, Forfarshire. His service record is available online from the National Archives, ADM 188/210. David.
