Guest mellow1 Posted 3 November , 2002 Share Posted 3 November , 2002 Hello, I'm new to this forum, and I'm hoping someone will be able to answer my query. I've been researching family history and just aquired my father's service record, in this it says on de- mob he was placed on the 'z' reserve list, I haven't been able to find out what this was. Some people have suggested a specific occupation list ie miners etc. (He was briefly in the mine before joining up). Thanks in anticipation, Mellow1. Tom Tulloch-Marshall Posted 3 November , 2002 Share Posted 3 November , 2002 You often see this on service medal index cards as well, as "ClZ" - it means Class Z Army Reserve which at the end of WW1 was the "active" reserve - liable for recall if hostilities kicked-off again. It has nothing to do with a man's industrial / trade / business classification, and doesnt even relate directly to his medical classification at discharge - "B" and "C" category men are often found with "ClZ" discharges.
