alliekiwi Posted 22 March , 2011 Share Posted 22 March , 2011 I was having a look through the absolutely brilliant pictures found in an attic in France, mostly of Australian soldiers with other nationalities thrown in. Anyway, I've been AWOL from the forum for awhile so am a little rusty on uniforms. This pair of lads caught my eye: Click I'm probably being frightfully thick, but - disregarding the turned up slouch hat since I know not only the Aussies did that - those aren't Australian uniforms, are they? The pockets look wrong to me, as does the waist. However the chap on the right looks like he has Australian collar dogs. Going by uniforms, though, they look more to be BEF or NZEF. I'm confuzzled. Someone put me out of my misery? Allie
Waddell Posted 22 March , 2011 Share Posted 22 March , 2011 Well spotted Allie. Australians did wear British pattern tunics when Australian tunics were in short supply. There is a reference to this in Stephen Chambers book on British army uniforms and equipment. Scott.
alliekiwi Posted 22 March , 2011 Author Share Posted 22 March , 2011 Phew, I was second-guessing myself ten different ways over that. Thanks, Waddell. Allie
