James Edward Spivey

Recommended Posts

I am trying to identify in which regiment a James Edward Spivey who survived the war might have served. He was born in 1884 in Northowram near Halifax and later lived in Staincliffe, Dewsbury.

There are 3 possibilities on MIC cards but of course these would not give his personal details.

Can anyone help please.

Thank you

Peter

Hi Peter,

When was James born?

Any other info (family members) can sometimes narrow down things when records need to be filtered!

There are surviving service papers for the James Edward Spivey of the ASC T220429 born 1884 and living at 334 Harrogate Road, Eccleshill, Bradford as a Derby enlistee in December 1915.

There should be enough either to rule him in or out.

That would leave you with three others.

His discharge address is 25 Halifax Road, Stainsfield nr Dewsbury.

Is this your man?

It seems fairly certain that this is him, (the correct spelling is STAINCLIFFE) will confirm after I have passed on the information.

Many thanks

Peter
