Members may be interested in the 4 photos below. The first 2 were loaned to me by Lt Walker's son, a neighbour, aged 92. I took the last 2 in 2003.

1 - the grave in 1918 per IWGC.

2 - in 1925 taken by his brother Reg, MC.

3 - the same plot 1 row A in 2003. Good to see all in the same order as 1925 ( Bass, Carr, Wharfe, Walker, Milligan, Caton, Brightman).

4 - Lt Walker's grave with the same cross behind it in the Communal Cemetery.

Fricourt,

Your neighbour’s family seem fairly well organised, what with photographs from 1918 and 1925, so they probably already have a copy of Douglas Jerrold’s history ‘The Royal Naval Division’ where there are three references to Lt. Walker. If not, then it is currently available from N & M for £22.

Thanks for sharing the pictures

Regards

Michael D.R.

Thanks Michael. I have a lot of info on the 4 Walker brothers, their sisters who were nurses, their in brothers in law the Goldthorps( who lost 3 sons), and other family connections but I'm not sure if John, my neighbour knows about the book. I'll pop round and see him when he gets back from holiday.

Charlie
