Can anyone identify this item?

Can anyone shed any light on what this is please? Not sure if it is WWI or WWII? It is crows foot marked with a number '10' underneath.

It measures 89cm in length overall.

Looks like a drum apron. I've never seen a brown one before ... they are usually buff leather , blancoed white. But the shape is quite distinctive.

Though at 89 cm it's for a rather tall drummer.

thanks Tony, do you think it's WWII as oppsed WWI? The leather looks similar to the type used in P39 Emergency equipment. The length I quoted included the strap at the bottom so perhaps not quite so tall!!

Is it the leg armour/protection worn by mounted drivers in the artillery?

I have had one of those through my hands and it was nothing like this. No idea what this is though.
