stevew Posted 10 May , 2011 Share Posted 10 May , 2011 Found this link didn't quite work, once I had a little play around managed to see some copies but not many I wouldn't mind seeing all of the RAMC journals from 14-
tootrock Posted 10 May , 2011 Share Posted 10 May , 2011 The link seems to start with "www01.us.archive" instead of the more usual "www"! Martin
MaureenE Posted 18 August , 2014 Share Posted 18 August , 2014 Above links with dates. Note: it appears each Volume, based on three I looked at, probably has a section at the back called Corps News which has information such as promotions, Medals, including foreign medals awarded etc. This section does not seem to appear in the Indexes. https://archive.org/details/n1journal25grea Volume 25, July 1915 (No.1) Corps News follows page 146 https://archive.org/details/n2journal25grea Volume 25, August 1915 (No. 2) Corps News follows page 252 https://archive.org/details/n3journal25grea Volume 25. Kath Posted 21 December , 2015 Share Posted 21 December , 2015 Maureen & aussienoel, Can a link to an article be put on a website? I can't see anything re. this use. Kath.
MaureenE Posted 21 December , 2015 Share Posted 21 December , 2015 If the website in question is non commercial, and the source journal is fully referenced, I believe this would be quite OK. Cheers Maureen

Dai Bach y Sowldiwr Posted 21 December , 2015 Share Posted 21 December , 2015 I love the paternal concern about young recruits smoking excessively: https://archive.org/stream/n2journal03grea#page/232/mode/2up ...."smoking in moderation is not injurious to the majority of men who are in good health , and it is agreeable." His gut feeling though was that there was something wrong with smoking, and it would take another 30+ years to prove it. Very interesting.
MaureenE Posted 22 December , 2015 Share Posted 22 December , 2015 I have tried the link and have found that you have to subscribe for ramc journal. Personal sub £80. It is free for me, but I live in Australia, as does aussienoel. Perhaps it is free if you are not in the UK? Perhaps it may be related to different copyright laws, although for internet copyright purposes, Britain and Australia are usually treated the same. Can anyone comment on this ? Cheers Maureen
Kath Posted 22 December , 2015 Share Posted 22 December , 2015 I can see all the archived journals. Is the subscription for current issues? Kath.
johnboy Posted 22 December , 2015 Share Posted 22 December , 2015 OK now. I clicked on the link next to pdf instead of on it!
Kath Posted 22 December , 2015 Share Posted 22 December , 2015 If the website in question is non commercial, and the source journal is fully referenced, I believe this would be quite OK. Cheers Maureen I suppose I could just give the title, author & date of the article. e.g Clinical and Other Notes A Note on the Citadel Hospital, Cairo: Captain L. B. Cane J R Army Med Corps 1915; 24:3 ps. 281-287. Kath.

battiscombe Posted 14 April , 2016 Share Posted 14 April , 2016 Thanks for this. The Corps News is very useful as very full lists of gallantry awards and promotions at many levels.. sometimes including citations
battiscombe Posted 14 April , 2016 Share Posted 14 April , 2016 and here is an unusual citation...No. 19032 Serjeant J. Cooke. For conspicuous gallantry, resource, and marked initiative on August 26, 1914, when he forcibly took possession of and removed a complete supply train from Boue to Etreux. The driver escaped with his engine at the latter place, and Serjeant Cooke at once commandeered another engine and driver, and having placed all the wounded in the train took it safely into Havre on August 29. During the journey the enemy directed a heavy fire on the train, but did little damage.
