johnreed Posted 27 June , 2004 Share Posted 27 June , 2004 Just doing research on World War !, I came across this information from The Times dated August 10 1920. The total number of awards confered during the war on soldiers for services in the field amounted to 239,853, of which 6,504 were Indian Orders, decorations and medals confered by or on recommendation of the Government of India. No further breakdown of type of honours confered. Makes you think? John
PhilB Posted 27 June , 2004 Share Posted 27 June , 2004 If you consider that some 6 million men served, it works out at about 1 award per 25 men. Or 1 per 100 per year. Have I got my figures right? It doesn`t seem a lot put that way! Phil B
