T8HANTS Posted 16 February , 2011 Share Posted 16 February , 2011 Hi The photo below is a section of a photograph sent to me as possibly being IOW Rifles, which they are not. As I can't place the cap badge, anybody recognise it?
Steven Broomfield Posted 17 February , 2011 Share Posted 17 February , 2011 Any chance of enlraging it? My immediate reaction was Inns of Court, but that could be way off.
shippingsteel Posted 17 February , 2011 Share Posted 17 February , 2011 Any chance of enlarging it? I'm pretty sure you can get pills for that .... Cheers, S>S

Staffsyeoman Posted 18 February , 2011 Share Posted 18 February , 2011 My first instinct chimes with Broomers'. Inns of Court OTC.

squirrel Posted 18 February , 2011 Share Posted 18 February , 2011 I reckon IOC as well - more worry for Broomers.

FROGSMILE Posted 19 February , 2011 Share Posted 19 February , 2011 Thanks for the replies so far. I have been wrestling with resizing the photo so I hope this will help He looks very young and therefore almost certainly a cadet of the OTC. I still think Inns of Court and interestingly he has a 'P14' rifle (often used for training), as opposed to a 'SMLE', across his knees. Up until September 1916, the Inns of Court provided basic and officer training at Berkhamsted. The subjects covered were drill, musketry, entrenching, bombing, map reading, field exercises in open warfare, and lectures in a whole range of subjects. Here is another typical cadet in a tailor made tunic (note pointed cuffs).
