kinnethmont Posted 27 June , 2004 Share Posted 27 June , 2004 I would be grateful of a look up in the Roll of Honour if any of the Pals has this history of the Black Watch in Mesoptamia Jan 1916 to Dec 1917. The man I am interested in is detailed below: EDWARD ADAM SOUTER Private S/19755 2nd Bn., Black Watch (Royal Highlanders) who died on Monday, 13th August 1917. Age 21. kinnethmont Posted 28 June , 2004 Author Share Posted 28 June , 2004 Rob Thanks for your help. I am aware that during the summer of 1917 2 Batt were stationed at Samarrah, Mesopotamia. A number of personel were given a months leave in India. This included Adam Souter. He and three others died in a railway accident and were buried in Trimulgherry Cantonment Cemetery. If any reference to this accident is given it would be helpful.

Jim_Grundy Posted 1 January , 2008 Share Posted 1 January , 2008 Just looked your man up in SDGW and that gives the date of death as 18th August 1917. From past experience, I'd trust the CWGC more.
