Pete,

I'm away tomorrow for 3 days.

PM me with your e-mail address. If I don't send something before I leave then I'll get back to you either on Sunday or early next week.

Are you interested in all 3 locations? (Armentieres, Richebourg and Givenchy)

Simon.

Thanks for the map Simon, very interesting. i cant pin point the area where the 13 battalion were positioned. I do have a nice hand drawn map from the 16 battalion, via there war diaries.

If your collecting maps i will send it if required.

Reading there diaries and looking at the map shows the 13th took over a position called "Farm corner " lots of nick names on the map, i.e "Whisky corner " "T total st "

all the best.

After reading the 13th battalion war diaries, they mention Festubert, tov---? Givenchy.

Looks like they held a line south of Richbourg " farm corner " and moved south.

Any help gratefully accepted .

Meny thanks Roger.

I think these maps cover the right area, quick question.

What do the hand drawn numbers mean on the front line ?

What symbol is used for an artllary battery ?

Iknow m.g. is machine gun.

Thanks again. :)

Pete

I think the numbers on the front line are just sector numbers. As far as I am aware, there are no symbols for an artillery battery, but happy to be proved wrong.

Iknow m.g. is machine gun.

Along with 'MG' ,the symbol for machine gun can also be a small circle with an arrow or, on some (especially earlier) maps, simply an arrow.
