howardchinner Posted 27 January , 2011 Share Posted 27 January , 2011 Does anyone know of any Re-enactment Societies who specialise, or are interested, in the First World War East African Campaign or the South West Africa Campaign? Would like to make contact with Societies representing all nationalities involved - including British, South African, Rhodesian, Nyasaland, India, West Africa, Caribbean, Belgium, German. lauracobb Posted 27 January , 2011 Share Posted 27 January , 2011 I don't think there are any groups in this country that specialise in this particular area. The majority do British, German and Russian (Western Front). I quit the hobby a couple of years ago, so I cannot be 100% sure but I do keep up with the goings on. I cannot account for groups in other countries. Best, Laura
RobL Posted 27 January , 2011 Share Posted 27 January , 2011 Still no groups that specialise in theatres other than the Western Front or Russian Eastern Front - there is a lot of interest in the Middle East, but haven't seen, or heard, of anyone doing specifically the East African theatre before though. Would certainly be interesting if someone did
Ithklur Posted 28 January , 2011 Share Posted 28 January , 2011 In Germany I actually just know the "Darstellungsgruppe Süddeutsches Militär DSM", were a few members involved in reenactment as Schutztruppen-soldiers http://www.dsm1918.de/ cheers Olav

Story Posted 28 April , 2012 Share Posted 28 April , 2012 Stumbled upon this museum display, figured the Schutztruppen leather gear might be of interest http://s400910952.websitehome.co.uk/germancolonialuniforms/militaria/samuseums.htm
