bts1970 Posted 21 January , 2011 Share Posted 21 January , 2011 Hi An area that many of us must research as far as possible is the locations of graves as found listed in documents compared to where lads now lie (If known). The lads below are all Wiltshire Regiment,they are all remembered on Memorials,none lie in known graves. However from research at the Wilts Regiment archives at Salisbury i did find refrence to origional burial sites. Can anyone assist with WW1 dated maps to show the locations where these lads were origionaly buried,its a long shot but even though some are listed as not marked,maybe they couldbe found marked on WW1 maps!.......maybe. I already have other details regarding their Service,this thread is purely regarding grave sites, many thanks for your time. DRURY, Private Henry, Philip. Death / Burial / Memorial details. Killed in action 22nd September 1914. Henry has no known grave. Commemorated on the LA FERTE SOUS – DOUARRE MEMORIAL. The Wiltshire Regiment records record a burial “Near quarry in wood 1 mile NE Vailly. Not marked”. JEFFERIES, Private Henry Reginald. Death / Burial / Memorial details. Killed in action 24th October 1914 aged 22, the first fatality of the War for a Purton resident. Henry has no known grave. Remembered on LE TOURET MEMORIAL, Panel 33/34. (Pas De Calais). The memorial book in St Mary’s states burial somewhere in France. The Wiltshire Regiment records list a burial for Henry “Trench 500 yards South of NEUVE CHAPELLE church. Not marked”. KIBBLEWHITE, Private Charles James. Death / Burial / Memorial details. Killed in action aged 29 on the 24th August 1914, Charles has no known grave. Remembered with honour LA FERTE-SOUS-JOUARRE MEMORIAL. France. Wiltshire Regiment records list a grave for Charles “Chateau CIPLY, near MONS. Not marked”. POUND, Private James. Death / Burial / Memorial details. Killed in action aged 26 on the 12th March 1915. James has no known grave. Remembered on YPRES (MENIN GATE), Panel 53. (Flanders, Belgium).
