RobL Posted 21 January , 2011 Share Posted 21 January , 2011 My latest acquisition - a propellor hub from a BHP 200hp Siddeley engine, most likely from an early 1918 batch, and likely from a DH4 or DH9. Gun timing mark is still in evidence

RobL Posted 21 January , 2011 Author Share Posted 21 January , 2011 If only! It would be nice to think it's in this, one of my favourite WW1 photos - a 200hp BHP engined DH4 of 27 Squadron with it's Pilot, Observer and ground crew and one of the 230lb bombs, but who knows - it could also have been fitted to a Bristol F2b or a DH9
Marco Posted 22 January , 2011 Share Posted 22 January , 2011 Hello Rob, Are you going to acquire a whole plane in this one-part-at-a-time-way? Regards, Marco
RobL Posted 22 January , 2011 Author Share Posted 22 January , 2011 Hi Marco, I like to think of myself as starting at the front and working my way back In seriousness though, although I would love to build a replica DH4, especially as there are 1) none left in the UK and 2) none left, even replicas, in RFC, RNAS or RAF Bomber configuration, however I don't have anywhere near the right amount of funds to make a serious start. Who knows in the future though, and if anyone has a spare Siddeley Puma BHP engine, Rolls Royce Eagle or RAF 3a i'd be glad to accept donations!
