pauldesmondwhite Posted 10 January , 2011 Share Posted 10 January , 2011 Errata: I think most of these have had a mention before, but maybe a consolidation will help someone. Ken Lees Posted 10 January , 2011 Share Posted 10 January , 2011 Maybe it's me, but what does the post above mean? What are the abbreviations? And what is/was confirmed/uncertain?
pauldesmondwhite Posted 10 January , 2011 Author Share Posted 10 January , 2011 Sorry, does this look any better? Columns are Appendix, Chapter, Page, Line, etc. Status "Confirmed" means i've satisfied myself from various other sources of its correctness. pauldesmondwhite Posted 18 January , 2011 Author Share Posted 18 January , 2011 Hi, Kirsty The Sicilia was a military HS, listed in Plumridge Appendix C. There was a yacht Cecilia (formerly Nerissa) that he lists amongst naval HS on page 17. The Nerissa was built in about 1890 at Glasgow and registered in 1896 at Goucester (don't know anything about ownership). Sir Charles Wyndham Murray bought it in 1910, renamed it Cecilia (after his wife, Lady Murray) and had it registered at Southampton. By August 1915 he'd made it available to the Navy, but i'm not sure under what arrangement (or whether he skippered it). It was broken up in 1946. That's all i know. Maybe other members can add something here? Paul
