GT500 Posted 9 January , 2011 Share Posted 9 January , 2011 If anyone can find any service files (MIC etc) or any information on: 225672 PTE Thomas Mcneilage. Cameron Highlanders and Lovet Scouts. I would be truly greatfull. Thanks
Waddell Posted 9 January , 2011 Share Posted 9 January , 2011 His MIC is downloadable from the National Archives. His Lovats Scouts service number was 3269. See here- http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/details-result.asp?Edoc_Id=4054410&queryType=1&resultcount=6 Someone on ancestry might look to see if his service records have survived. Waddell Posted 9 January , 2011 Share Posted 9 January , 2011 The MIC will probably only tell you his medal entitlement and entry date into theatre of war but will give you a point to start from. His records (if they have survived) will tell you more. The "Story of the Lovat Scouts 1900-1980" by Michael leslie Melville is a good short history of their involvement in the war. Might be worth deleting your second thread and adding Thomas McNeilage and Lovats Scouts to the sub heading on this thread to avoid confusion with two postings asking for the same soldiers details.
