CSMMo Posted 23 June , 2004 Share Posted 23 June , 2004 I'm interested in all the badges, but particularly the bar over the right breast pocket on some of these lads. They are (very young) members of the Bute (Mountain) Battery either just after mobilization or perhaps even before. My grandfather is in the front with the crossed semaphores on his sleeve. rflory Posted 23 June , 2004 Share Posted 23 June , 2004 The badge is the Imperial Service Badge. It was awarded to each individual accepting liability for service outside the United Kingdom. The badge was worn, when in uniform, on the right breast of the officer or man so long as the liability continued. Below is a photo of the badge. Regards. CSMMo Posted 23 June , 2004 Author Share Posted 23 June , 2004 Thanks Dick, That makes sense as it is a Territorial Unit. That also helps date the photo as post Aug-1914.
PhilB Posted 23 June , 2004 Share Posted 23 June , 2004 Have you noticed how the men pose so that their stripes and badges are most visible? Nothing new there, then! Phil B
