SMG65 Posted 3 January , 2011 Share Posted 3 January , 2011 Does anyone know how I can obtain a trench map for the area of the Aisne that 50 Division held in May 1918 (Pontavert/Craonne) Sean
CROONAERT Posted 3 January , 2011 Share Posted 3 January , 2011 I've got quite a few for the area from 1917 (various dates between April and December) and also September 1918 along with a trenchmap of Craonne (only) in January 1918 but nothing for May 1918. Would any of these be sufficient for your needs? (The September 1918 edition is very heavily trench-detailed) Dave
CROONAERT Posted 3 January , 2011 Share Posted 3 January , 2011 Example 'clip' from the Sept 1918 edition...
SMG65 Posted 4 January , 2011 Author Share Posted 4 January , 2011 Dave The December 17 would be the positions of the trenches in May 18. Also the Sept 18 is very informative. I'm trying to pinpoint the exact locations of the 50 Div trenches in May 18, the farmers have done a good job of covering them up. The war diaries are very informative and I'm trying to match them with a trench map. I am willing to pay any expenses/costs etc. Regards Sean
