bartmac118 Posted 25 November , 2010 Share Posted 25 November , 2010 Hi, does the hand-written piece across the centre of the card relate to my Father's BWM being returned on 6/5/38? and what does CRV B42 ans NW/5/38586 mean, would they state the reason for the return. 20 years after the end of WW1 seems a long time to wait to return a medal. Admin kenf48 Posted 25 November , 2010 Admin Share Posted 25 November , 2010 CRV means Certified Receipt Voucher, then the reference I suspect, and its speculation, one of the medals (BWM) was inscribed incorrectly, (probably the Regiment ) and when noticed returned for amendment I guess he, or his relatives wanted them all to show the same regiment but as you say they waited long enough! Ken btw looked at back of card on Ancestry - blank so no help there!
malch Posted 25 November , 2010 Share Posted 25 November , 2010 There's no guarantee that the reference to 6/5/38 is actually a date. M
bartmac118 Posted 26 November , 2010 Author Share Posted 26 November , 2010 Thanks Ken and M, his Victory medal is inscribed with the Cameron Highlanders, the 15 Star I don't have and nor does any other member of the family as far as I am aware, but thanks anyway.
