Rockdoc Posted 17 November , 2010 Share Posted 17 November , 2010 Working on my War Diary transcriptions, I came across a record that puzzled me. On 22nd November 1916, 24th AA Section records its Sub-section at Ravine du Faux Col engaging an Aviatik. Three shells burst "effective" and one "close range" and the plane dived steeply and retired.Their record was confirmed "by the French Marine Artillery OP at Piton des Zouaves." I know nothing very much about French gunnery but is this OP for French-Marine Artillery (i.e. like our RMA) or French Marine-Artillery? Who says that the hyphen is pointless nowadays?
