This may be old ground but was the design of the Plaque for the next of kin a compitition ? I found this picture of two designs in a Dundee paper from March 1918.Sorry the picture is not to good. "Our readers will remember that some time ago competitors were invited to send in designs for a memorial plaque to be presented to the next-of-kin of those who have fallen in the war.The two designs reproduced are of exceptional interest.The upper design is the work of Sapper G.D.Macdougald,second son of the late City Analyst of Dundee.The particularly chaste and impressive design below is the work of Mr.Charles Wheeler.Both the designs have been awarded prizes of £50."
