mark holden Posted 27 October , 2010 Share Posted 27 October , 2010 I have had this haversack for many years and looking at the excellent Karkee Web site it has a close similarity to those attributed to the 1903 Bandoleer equipment. It varies in that the buttons are horn and there is a pocket to the reverse of the bag. Is it 1903 attributable or not? reverse picture
wainfleet Posted 27 October , 2010 Share Posted 27 October , 2010 I believe that to be an officer's bag of similar type to the pattern 1903 equipment.

133.R Posted 1 April , 2011 Share Posted 1 April , 2011 Hi Who know more about this haversack ? A part of the official artillery equipment? The two brass buttons on the front side are missing. Maybe anybody has a pair for sale?? Best regards Sven

133.R Posted 10 April , 2011 Share Posted 10 April , 2011 Sven See thread "Is this a record?" on the Equipment subforum. Regards, W. Wainfleet ! Thank you very much. The haversack comes from France. I think he was worn in the Great War. Regards Sven
wainfleet Posted 12 April , 2011 Share Posted 12 April , 2011 It looks to have been issued to 49 Battery, part of 3rd Division, which would make it a Battle of Mons piece. Very few collectors have one of those!

Very few collectors have one of those! The missing two brass buttons are arrived today. A nice part of equipment to complete my artillery gunner.
