floydz Posted 11 October , 2010 Share Posted 11 October , 2010 I have two WW 1 Medals with the stamp 159221 GNR WH SIMMONDS. The reason I have these is that my Grandfather's WW2 medals were stolen from a house in Cambridgeshire in approx. 1974, my grandfather was Stanley Preston and was possibly in the Royal Signals. My Mother knew that Grandma would be devastated knowing that the medals were stolen so they went out and bought some medals from a second hand shop to make it look like we still had them if Grandma ever wanted to sight them, knowing that she would only have a quick glance. My absolute ideal would be to get one of Grandad's medals from WW2. He was given a bravery award, a star of some description, or to get one of my Great Grandfather's medals, Robert Flood, East Yorks. I would like to give these medals to a family member of WH Simmonds, What is the best website for trying to find medals or matching people searching for medals?
