trying to identifying my Great Grandfathers regiment from a capbadge

Hi ,

I am trying to identify my great grandfathers regiment from a very old and faded photograph, he has what could be a swan ? on the cap badge of his s/d cap hope someone can help at the time of enlistment he lived in Shoreditch East London. Many Thanks

Make a few short quick posts here and your ability to post photos will be activated.

It's very hard to identify a badge from a verbal description vs. a picture - one man's swan is another man's pelican etc.

The only swan I can think of is the Bucks Battalion of the OBLI but that particular swan is quite small in the central roundel of a KRRC-style maltese cross and unlikely to be visible in a grainy photograph.

What about Hawke Btn, RND?

Or could it be a dragon or griffon?

What else can you see?
