Wnd soldiers in (Beds/Herts) 'St Albans Diocese'

Can anyone please help me to understand how the wounded were handled administratively so I can explore further?

The soldier in question was wnd (or similar) in Gallipoli, registered in the St Albans district as wounded, then returned but to France.

Does his registration in St Albans district confirm he was physically back home, or does that just mean he was wounded and the wnd was registered in ST Albans as he was from that Diocese (Beds and Herts)?

Also, what is the liklehood of finding what hospital, casualty station, dates in and out etc? If it is possible or has been achieved before, where do I look?!!

Any insight into the workings (was he allowed visitors, leave to see his family etc?) would be valuable too.

Thanks again everyone

Steve
