Remembered Today:

Chevrons on the left cuff

Evening all,

I know this as been covered before, but for the life of me I can't find it.

Looking at a picture of my granddad there appears to be a chevron under the signallers badge on the left cuff of his jacket.

It appears to be the same size as the rank stripes higher up the sleeves, so I am wondering if it for good conduct and if so what were the qualifing conditions for such an award.

Cheers Roger.

Hi there,

The got away with it seems to fit my granddad as he was a bit of a rascal back in civvy street.

If I have worked it out right he first went to France in 1915, enlisted in 1914, then the photo would have been 1916 or 1917.

When were they first issued.

Whilst on early training at Wareham he did have CB's a couple of times would that have discounted him to start with, or did the time start after the last occourance.

Cheers Roger.

ps he liked his beer.

I found a mistake all by myself. I'm amazed!

I must have learnt something after all.

Well, right from left at any rate.

Cheers,

Nigel
