deano Posted 10 September , 2010 Share Posted 10 September , 2010 Hi, i was going to ask for a trench map of this area, but seeing as its only 1914 i suppose they were yet to get to that stage ? What i'm after is a map showing the area of fighting done by the 2nd York and Lancs in October of 1914. This would show Radinghem, Chateau de Flandres and Le Torquet. This is for a trip i have planned for later this month. Any help much appreciated. regards Dean.
Robert Dunlop Posted 11 September , 2010 Share Posted 11 September , 2010 Dean, there weren't any trench maps published at that time, not in the form that you usually see in various posts. War diaries often contain sketches. Staff frequently used maps that were obtained from the French army or from civilian sources. Robert
deano Posted 11 September , 2010 Author Share Posted 11 September , 2010 Thanks Robert, i didn't think there would be any 'trench' maps at that time. Still, a map of the area at the time would/could be useful. Anyone know where to look ? Dean.
