Rory Stephens Posted 31 August , 2010 Share Posted 31 August , 2010 Hi there I wonder if anyone out there can help me. I am researching a soldier in the 9th Norfolks - and although I have found out quite a lot about him, I dont know how to go about finding the name of the troopship he boarded when first posted. I know he was posted on the 3rd October 1915 to join the 24th Division (albeit only for a week) but have been unable to find out what ship he sailed on. Any help gladly accepted Rory
Bardess Posted 31 August , 2010 Share Posted 31 August , 2010 Hi Rory. If you post his details I'm sure on of the Pals with a subscription to Ancestry will check if his service record exists
Rory Stephens Posted 31 August , 2010 Author Share Posted 31 August , 2010 Thanks Diane I have been on ancestry and found his service records, but have not been able to locate the ship in them. His name is Private Edwin Frost 15158 of the 9th Norfolks and latterly in 1918, 23rd Tank Battalion. Many thanks Rory
Bardess Posted 31 August , 2010 Share Posted 31 August , 2010 Perhaps having a look at the War Diary might be the way to go
AlanCurragh Posted 31 August , 2010 Share Posted 31 August , 2010 Rory - I've moved your thread to "Soldiers", which I'd suggest is a more natural home for it - should get a bit more attention there too Alan
