Trying to sort out if a chap appears on the Denton, Lincolnshire (near Grantham) church Roll of Honour.

Supposedly on the roll is a chap called FRANK LANE, born in Great Gonerby, 1896.

It is said that Frank did not become a casualty of the Great War and came back. I wondered if it is true and that his name does appear.

Anyone with access to or know for sure?

We are not even sure which branch of service he was with.

Cheers,

Dick Whitworth.

Sorry for the 13 year delay in answering you. In the meantime I hope you have found out more about Frank.

I have just had a look on Ancestry and the only Frank Lane born @1896 in Great Gonerby DID survive the war, went over to New Zealand at some point after the war, got married and died in Hamilton on 14/04/1989 so he lived to a grand old age. Maybe he went over to NZ straight after the war, never returning home, so that may be why he was added to the Memorial as the family were unaware of his fate.
