Admin kenf48 Posted 29 August , 2010 Admin Share Posted 29 August , 2010 Without seeing his card or knowing his name I don't think I can help, can you post a copy of the card. Retlaw Oh of course you can, we're all psychic here doncha' kno I notice a recent thread collected 8 posts without mentioning a name, anyway my wild psychic guess is you are looking at a card for a Silver War Badge see http://www.1914-1918.net/grandad/mic.htm 'Third type of card' The list is the index list for the issue of the badge and is a reference to the records held at the TNA (the National Archives) and not available online It means the man you are researching served, but may not have gone overseas so no medal, on the other hand he could have, but without a name .... Admin kenf48 Posted 29 August , 2010 Admin Share Posted 29 August , 2010 That's confirmed then it's a SWB card as at post 3 Discharged 15 September 1915 Para 392 xvi Kings Regs 'No longer fit for war service' There is a pension record on Anc+y which shows he enlisted 19/10/1914 Short Service Engagement posted to 9th Battalion Admitted to Hospital 18/8/1915 discharged 28/8/14 Diagnosis '(? Congenital) disease of the heart' Recommended for discharge Did not serve overseas so no medals. There is an mic for a William F Boddington in the Royal Engineers no idea if it's the same man although doubtful as no mention on the record btw Anc+y says 40 images - I could only find seven Ken PS Sorry
