Adam Llewellyn Posted 27 August , 2010 Share Posted 27 August , 2010 Good day all, Private 66262 Urban Leonard Wootton is listed on the Anstey AVL as being with the 2nd Battalion Cheshire Regiment. His MIC also shows that at some time he was with the RAMC, number 83674. I'm assuming that he was transferred from the RAMC to the Cheshires, but would appreciate some help in confirming this. The LLT tells me that the 2nd Cheshires moved to Egypt and then on to Salonika in October 1915, would the Cheshire number help in giving a possible date on when Urban may have joined up with the 2nd Battalion, and if possible, where abouts. The MIC only shows the pair. Best regards. Llew.
John_Hartley Posted 27 August , 2010 Share Posted 27 August , 2010 Cheshire number is well off my scale for even a good guess about transfer. My notes, based on Stockport's casualties get less detailed as the war goes and I could only indicate that the 50,000 is late 1916. Perhaps, you're into mid-1917? Adam Llewellyn Posted 27 August , 2010 Author Share Posted 27 August , 2010 Thanks for the reply John, it gives me some idea on when he could have joined. Regards. Llew.
